Vinyl Descriptions & Notes

ORACAL 651 Intermediate Calendared Vinyl

This is America's leading intermediate vinyl. Thanks to its proprietary formulation and construction, ORACAL Series 651 has become the industry standard for high performance calendared films. Oracal 651 is a performance grade vinyl well suited for indoor and outdoor applications. Only 2.5 mils thick, ORACAL 651 offers up to 6 years outdoor durability and is ideal for short and medium term outdoor applications. Indoor exposure is almost unlimited. It was originally designed for fleet vehicle graphics making it a perfect choice for cars. The solvent-based permanent adhesive makes it a great choice for wet area applications such as boats or other outdoor places. It can still be used indoors on walls but has a much higher potential to cause damage when removed.

SIHL 3988 Classic Printable Vinyl

3988 Classic™ Vinyl is a premium outdoor durable calendared vinyl for long lasting applications. The bright white inkjet coating provides universal compatibility on the most common dye and pigment ink printers. It also provides water and fade resistance for long-term outdoor use. The permanent solvent adhesive is ideal for strong, lasting adhesion to flat and uneven surfaces.

APPLICATION- Surfaces to which the material will be applied must be thoroughly cleaned and free from dust, grease or any other contamination that could affect the adhesion of the material. Freshly lacquered or painted surfaces should be allowed to dry for at least three weeks and to completely cure. The compatibility of selected lacquers and paints should be tested by the user, prior to application of the material.

REMOVING VINYL - Vinyl can be easily removed off of glass or wood if heated slightly.  Use a hair dryer to soften the seal and lightly scrape.  For removing from walls, be careful to not scrape too hard so as not to ruin the finish.  If vinyl has been left on a wall for a time, you may need to repaint as paint colors do change over time and the paint that is covered with vinyl will remain the same.  This will cause shadowing on your wall when the vinyl is removed.  (This is the same effect that hanging a picture on your wall may present.)

NOTES

  • Colors shown on your screen may not reflect exact color of vinyl. The colors reflected on your computer screen are approximations of the actual colors but are very close.
  • Outdoor durability is up to 6 years but will be dependent upon environmental conditions (extreme hot and cold temperatures) and general care of decal. Printable decals have an additional UV laminate layer to help extend life.
